My Prediction for the Georgia-Clemson Showdown
There’s no doubt in my mind that the Georgia-Clemson game is the must-watch matchup of the weekend. Two powerhouse programs, both in the top 15, squaring off in a neutral site at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium—this is going to be electric.
Georgia comes in as the No. 1 team in the country, while Clemson sits at No. 14. On paper, you might think Georgia has the edge, and you’d be right, but don’t sleep on Clemson. They’ve got some tools, and if they play their cards right, it could get interesting.
Cade Klubnik is going to be key for Clemson. If the Tigers want any shot at taking down the Dawgs, Klubnik has to be productive on the ground. Clemson can’t just rely on their traditional rushing attack; they’ll need their quarterback to make plays with his legs too.
“If Clemson’s going to beat Georgia, they need to run the football from the quarterback spot,” I said on my YouTube channel earlier this week. “They’re just not good enough everywhere else to win without that extra dynamic.”
That said, Georgia just has too many weapons. I like what Clemson brings, but I don’t see them pulling off the upset. The Dawgs have a balanced offense—they can pound the ball on the ground but don’t necessarily need to if Carson Beck starts slinging it. Beck can spread the field, and that’s going to be crucial.
That’s why I’m taking Georgia to win this one. Their versatility, both in the air and on the ground, gives them the upper hand. The Tigers will fight, no question, but Georgia’s balance and depth will be too much to handle.
Kickoff is set for August 31 at noon, and you can catch it live on ABC. Buckle up, this is going to be a good one.
